Since time immemorial people have died on ships and lawyers have sought some type of redress for those lost. Our own country's historical development in this area of law bred discontent and some injustice which ultimately led to attempts at statutory reform. The latest pronouncements in this long trek of legal history are not viewed favorably by plaintiffs' attorneys in many instances; it may be said that the courts have not, do not and will never satisfy everyone, nor free the issue of maritime wrongful death from controversy.
