The author describes the history and text of the rule, including its initial promulgation by the Louisiana Supreme Court, its implementation by various in-state law clinics, and several amendments subsequently adopted by the court. The author concludes that these amendments conform to the original intent of the Louisiana Supreme Court when it adopted the rule, as well as the original justification for the rule as articulated by the deans of the law schools in Louisiana.
