Collation is an ancient institution of succession law. Given recent developments and activity by the Louisiana State Law Institute, this area of law is ripe for a critical review of the jurisprudence and the institution as a whole. This Article identifies many problems that exist with the internal operation of Louisiana's collation law and recommends solutions derived from cases, civilian history, common law, and comparative civilian jurisdictions.
